Impact of Work-Related Musculoskeletal Disorders Among Construction Workers in Ghana

Abstract The construction industry is known for its task-related risks and hazards contributing to occupational stress musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). study sought identify the impact of MSDs among concrete mixer operators workers in Central Region Ghana. population was made up 28 187 workers. Out 215 questionnaires administered, 206 were returned which represented 95.8 % response rate. Descriptive statistics Relative Importance Index (RII) used data analysis. Findings show that most young males worked a longer period day. Force movement, repetition, awkward bending fixed body postures major factors leading development contributed frequent absenteeism poor performance Further findings back pain, waist pain shoulder self-reported MSD complaints. Risk assessment should be conducted on all site ergonomic tools/equipment introduced reduce
